To make an extra dry martini, mix 1 ½ ounce vodka or gin with a few drops of vermouth. For a wet martini, mix equal parts gin or vodka and dry vermouth. Garnish your martini with cocktail onions instead of lemon or olives to make a Gibson. Make a perfect martini by mixing gin or vodka with equal parts dry and sweet vermouth.
In just a couple of years, the Martini drinks will be 150 years old. Over time, the ratio between spirits and dry vermouth has changed - from equal parts to a 9-to-1 ratio today. METHOD. Shake up all the ingredients and pour into a martini glass. Cut a thick slice of lemon peel and rub it on the edge of the glass before placing it in the drink. Again, add a few dashes of bitters if you like a more aromatic drink.
